What I Ate Wednesday 24.01.18

I've read my fair share of "What I ate in a day" posts as well as watched countless YouTube videos, so I figured why don't I start writing my own?! This also helps brighten up my midweek rut at work, I dealt with some interesting customers today to say the least... Anyway, back to the post!

I wake up at 7am now and I'm always at a bit of a loss for what to have for breakfast. Time is of the essence in the morning for me so breakfast has to be done in 15-20 minutes, but I don't want to rush whatever I'm eating. With this in mind, I've recently been reaching for mashed banana on toast in the morning. This is a breakfast I enjoyed daily as a child (when I wasn't having chocolate spread on toast...) and I recently reintroduced it back into my life! It's pretty much the easiest breakfast you could imagine, there's nothing fancy about it and it only takes a couple of minutes of toasting bread and mashing bananas to get in to your plate. I had a pint of water alongside my breakfast because I'm attempting to drink more fluids in the morning as I've been lacking in that recently. I will say I'm pretty thankful I'm not one of those people who wake up and can't function without coffee, I just need food to fuel me!

For my lunch I enjoyed half a leftover "Sweet potato and butternut" wrap from Nandos where I went for dinner last night. There's actually quite a few vegan options at Nandos, you just have to request things like no mayo, no cheese etc. Of the vegan options there, this one is definitely my favourite. Alongside this I had broccoli and edamame beans that I prepared last night. Broccoli is one of my favourite foods and I found a big bag of edamame beans in my local Asian supermarket for around £2 so I've been enjoying them as a snack/side a lot recently (top tip - use Nando's peri-peri salt on top of them! I promise I'll stop going on about Nando's now...).

As my afternoon snacks, because let's be realistic, snacking is needed to get through the day when you're working a repetitive job, I enjoyed a rather random part-baked roll with Vitalite spread on. I also ate most of the roll before I remembered to take a picture, so I apologise for that!! I realise this is a pretty random snack, but my other snacks were more normal. In order to have a balanced diet (haha) I also brought a banana and a Fry's Mint Chocolate Cream bar, because eating a banana definitely cancels out the chocolate bars sugar content 😅

For dinner I was lucky enough to come home to a vegan shepherds pie made by my Dad. I believe he used Tesco's fake mince, gravy, then added peas and mashed potato on top. Alongside this we had green beans, sprouts and potatoes, so a typical British dinner!

I realise this is a pretty random selection of food, and the pictures (especially those taken at work) aren't the best quality, but I hope you've enjoyed reading this little insight into what is a becoming a pretty regular selection of foods that I eat in a day!
